BREAKING NEWS! Okonjo-Iweala Survives Parcel Bomb in Abuja

The explosion that went off today at a Nipost Post Office in the Garki area of Abuja, which was controlled, Olufamous.com gathered, was for a parcel bomb addressed to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

The question is why would anyone send such a deadly parcel to Mrs Okonjo-Iweala?

The Bomb Disposal Unit of the Nigerian Police Force were called in when the suspicious package was discovered. However, the police, while admitting that there was some issues with a parcel claimed that the parcel did not carry explosives but was filled with tiles and other odd materials.

This will be the second time a high profile Nigerian is targeted by a letter/parcel bomb. In 1986, the Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch was the victim of a letter bomb which killed him. The Human Rights Violation and Investigation Commssion led by Justice Chukwudifu Oputa would later indict the Babangida regime for the crime.

Today's million dollar question is who is responsible for this latest attempt to get at the Finance Minister? Is this one too related to the Fuel Subsidy cabal and payment issues? Time will tell.
